Easiest, All Natural MicroDermabrasion Recipe
This is a super easy, natural, all in one product you can make from just two basic ingredients you most likely already have- coconut oil and baking soda. Combined, these two simple ingredients cleanses, exfoliates and moisturizes! Baking soda helps to cleanse the skin while also providing a gentle exfoliation. It also helps to balance the skin’s pH levels which is important because it prevents excessive drying but still does a good job at cleansing the skin really well. Coconut oil is not only moisturizing but it also helps to cleanse the skin, too. While it may sound counter-intuitive, oil dissolves oil and is therefore cleansing. Coconut oil, in particular, is a great option because it contains antibacterial properties. Furthermore, the medium chain fatty acids and proteins in coconut oil are known to have anti-aging properties as they help to tighten the skin, reduce pore size, even out skin tone and contributes to cellular and tissue repair.
2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil (unrefined/virgin, preferably organic)
*1-2 Tablespoons Baking Soda
Combine both ingredients in a jar and mix well with a spoon. Store covered with lid. *Depending on the level of exfoliation and frequency you’d like will determine how much baking soda to use. I use this just about every other day so I use the ratio of 2 Tablespoons coconut oil to 1 Tablespoon baking soda. If you’re only planing on using it for a weekly exfoliation treatment you might want to add the extra Tablespoon of baking soda.
Dampen hands and face and apply a small (dime size or less) amount to face. Gently massage in upward motions being careful to not apply too close to the eyes. (I typically do this in the shower.) Using a warm wet, washcloth, gently remove the scrub. You can also apply this to your neck and chest area, too.
